Temari Cast Iron Teapot (Large)
Temari Cast Iron Teapot (Large)
by Suzuki Morihisa Studio
This cast iron tetsubin features a geometric line pattern inspired by the traditional Japanese decorative ball known as Temari.
The intricate pattern covers the entire body of the kettle, making it one of the representative works of the 15th-generation Morihisa. Iron kettles with such a fully patterned surface are relatively rare, highlighting both the technical skill and artistic sensibility of the craftsman.
The kettle is fitted with a bag-shaped handle (Fukuro-zuru) and a ring-shaped spout rim (Waguchi), both traditional structural elements that provide durability and balance.
Cast iron kettles such as this have long been valued in Japan for their ability to distribute heat evenly while enhancing the experience of preparing tea.
Produced by Suzuki Morihisa Studio, a historic ironware workshop based in Morioka, Japan, this tetsubin reflects generations of craftsmanship in traditional Nambu ironware.
A refined balance of functionality, heritage, and sculptural beauty.
