This exceptional cast iron tetsubin is crafted using rare satetsu (iron sand), a traditional material historically used in Japanese iron production.

Due to its hardness and density, iron made from satetsu is more resistant to rust and allows for a distinctive polished mirror-like finish, creating a refined metallic brilliance. When properly cared for, such kettles can be passed down and used for generations.

The form of this kettle is inspired by the silhouette of a Natsume, a traditional tea container used in Japanese tea ceremony. Its rounded body conveys a strong sense of weight and stability.

The handle is attached using a dramatic zagan (mounted metal base) structure, connecting the powerful handle directly to the body of the kettle. The lid is finished with a decorative knob inspired by the fruit of the gardenia plant, adding a subtle botanical detail.

The body features an elegant botan (peony) motif, symbolizing prosperity and beauty.

Alongside the classic Nambu-style tetsubin, this piece is considered one of the flagship models of Suzuki Morihisa Studio.
